Pantone Color of the Year Turquoise

Pantone has announced that the color of the year is turquoise.

When I think of turquoise I think, cool, ocean, blue, tropical, modern, white...what do you think of?

The color of the ocean? 
Your favorite piece of jewlery?

 

If turquoise is the color choice for your wedding the first question you will ask me is what flowers go with turquoise? There aren't really any turquoise flowers, and though I have no problem gluing a rhinestone to a flower, I just can't bring myself to dye flowers. So I like to find flowers that compliment this color rather than match. Here are a few ideas.
If you think tropical when you see turquoise, this fabulous mix of orange, hot pink and green will be right up your alley!
One of my favorite ways to do turquoise is to use all white flowers and bring the color in with other elements, perhaps a little beading?


Lighting and draping are marvelous ways to bring in this color and how about a signiture drink?
Try turquoise with rich jewel tones. There are so many other colors to accent turquoise, brown, pink, peach, even red... I hope this have given you a spring board to start planning your color of the year wedding! All florals by Blooms

Wedding at Catta Verdera Country Club

One of the last weddings of the season was held at Catta Verdera, we used deep red roses, brown leonitas roses, and browning leaves to give a rich fall look




Rather than cream or white, we used chocolate brown and gold satin to drape the arbor, I love color at the ceremony.
Rose tie backs for the arbor draping, beauty is in the details.

The Citizen Hotel

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted, I had a last minute Christmas party to work on, and it was a doozy, hopefully I will have pictures soon.

Today I have photos from the wonderful Beth Bauer of True Love Photography Beth is not only a wonderful photographer, she is such a kick to be around! Love her, love her, love her! So sit back and enjoy a feast for your eyes.

We had 2 of these tall gold vases with flowers on top for the table cards, they greeted you as you exited the elevator.
I just love hanging flowers from just about anything.
The head table solid florals with mercury glass stands and pillar candles. We placed a couple more of the tall gold vases with arrangments at either end of the table.
The centerpiece, I love the little wine bottles.

Southern Wedding Magazine features Heather and Preston's wedding

This summer I worked with the sweetest bride, well I worked with lot's of sweet brides, they all have a little piece of my heart. Heather drove to see me all the way from the Bay area. She really wanted a Southern feeling wedding. She found the lovely Heriloom Inn in Ione California. Heather did so many lovely things to detail her wedding, the paper, individul little pies for the guest favors, and on and on...so it's no wonder Southern Wedding Magazine choose to feature it in their latest issue. For the florals we went with old fashioned zinnias, dahleas, roses etc... then we arranged peaches right into the centerpieces. For the containers I searched online and bit by bit purchased vintage milk glass for the centerpieces and smaller milk glass pieces, cream and sugars, sherbert cups etc... to hold the votive candles. We hung 40+ mason jars with candles throughout the trees for a wonderful glow when it got dark. All photos by Jennifer Longaway Photography

Hans Fahden Winery Part 2 the reception

Monday I posted the ceremony end of Jillian and Chris's wedding, today we will move into the cave for their reception.

 They started at the outdoor patio for cocktails, Catriona of Arcularius Events Website brought in pillows to line the wooden benches and I was able to bring little potted lysianthis planted in urns.



I love when a wedding has a ceremony site, cocktail site then a dinner site. It makes it easy to reuse flowers from the ceremony in the dinner area without anyone seeing us transfering.

For this luxerious table I created several flower styles, the large twig arrangments with nests of flowers that held candles, small arrangements with candle centers then the potted lisianthus and candles, candles, candles!









Then to finish the evening off to yet another room for dancing. Sharri with CMC Events created these beautiful magnoia trees and lighting.

Jillian & Chris @ Hans Fahden Winery Part 1 The Cermeony

I was so excited when Catriona of Arcularius Events Website asked me to work on a wedding at Hans Fahden Winery. Jillian came with her ideas and we all got to work! I love how the whole wedding came together.

Kristi and Justin @ Terra D'Oro

Kristi and Justin were married in Septmember with a pumpkin themed wedding.


We draped gold fabric on the arbor to add some color and drama.
We lined the aisle with pumpkins, and had a large cluster of pumpkins at the start of the aisle.

Kristi went with all white for her bridal bouquet, then we brought in color for the bridesmaids.
